I think of old Times Square and London’s Soho a generation or two ago: neon signs luring people into peep shows and theatres, underground bars you only knew if you knew. Not always safe, often sleazy, but alive with creativity, counterculture, and grassroots movements that would change the world. I also think of the trailblazers: Black queer ballroom culture in New York. The spark of the Stonewall riots. Drag Queens, Kings and gender-queer showgirls. The peep shows, the smoke-filled backrooms where bodies and ideas intertwined. I think of Soho and NYC in the 60s, 70s, and 80s - decades where music, visual art, and activism collided, in the sexiest ways. Basquiat. Warhol. Bowie. Talking Heads. Hendrix. Lou Reed. Crossing paths in clubs, lofts, underground theatres. It’s taken time to relax into myself here. Like most things I do, I signed up on a whim. At first, I had no grand plan, just a willingness to shake my thang. I’ve been into kink forever though and try to be inclusive and anti-r@cist in what I do (love cuckolding, h@te racial fetishisation), but I also wanted to evoke something of a past era in my work. Over the past few days, it hit me that I’d like a little visual nod to this and bring it into my offerings. So Kittywood is to be my little virtual hub of creativity where every quirky, kinky little misfit is welcome. It’s as sexy as AI neon can muster, but in spirit, it’s an homage to places where art, pleasure, and inclusivity meet. Sex and art have always met in the margins. They’ve been st0len from, sanitised, sidelined, and suppressed - yet they’ve shaped the culture we live in. So if it’s open to interpretation, #SEXISART for me means honouring those spaces and those people - and keeping that spirit alive. I’m not going to pretend my little Kittywood visuals and offerings are anything but a clumsy nod to that great legacy. But I’d love to build an inclusive space where every kink, every quirk, and every body has a place. A place to play, to watch, to perform - but also to belong. I’ll also still be shaking my thang. Who’s gonna join me? 🖤 Sex is art. It shapes everything. And the show MUST go on. 🥳💋
